Artist's Comments

Miss Kagura used to love when I fed the outdoor kitties moist food. When her litter was still young, I'd take out a plate of moist food just about every evening, and they'd crawl all over each other to get at it. The little kittens were formidable matches to the older cats when it came to moist food!

Check out what she looked like AFTER eating here --> [link]

Homigod :jawdrop: It should be illegal for a kitten to be that cute. :+fav:

Is this photomanipulation? Is that sunbeam really there? If that's so, you've managed a WONDERFUL image. =D

This is so cute I'm going to lock my jaw in one AWW movement... :-P :aww:

Very good!

Eh, just a ~tiny~ bit of manipulation. :blushes: The sunbeam wasn't actually there, but she really was standing like that, looking like she was praying. Should I change the category to Photomanip, do you think?

Thanks for the compliment! :)

Actually, the "sunbeam" was really there in the original image, but it wasn't quite as evident. We have a lot of trees just out of frame and in the late afternoon they create long patterns of shadow and light that vaugely resemble sunbeams dancing across the ground.

In this shot Kagura stood between two of the shadows in such a way that she actually did have a beam of light hit her - as can be seen by the backlight halo down her back. It's simply a lucky accident that the camera was at an angle that the shadow on the ground and porch lined up as well as they did and fell on Kagura. Purely dumb luck!

When I saw the image on the computer, it struck me how lucky it was and I did a little dodging and burning to bring out the "sunbeam" more. Straight from the camera, it's not overly noticable, so I guess it's enhanced to some extent. It is worth noting that the same enhancement could be easily done in a traditional darkroom when making a print "the old fashioned way."
:iconqwerty-kitties:
Then I stand corrected. :) So it's not a 'photomanipulation' in the traditional sense, but an enhancement of what was already there.

Thanks for clearing that up, sweetie. :glomp:

Well, *I* am a friggin' perfectionist, not you. :-P If you think it belonged in the selected category, then okay by me. I just advice on what I see. ;-)
